presentation

The idea of a Jazz album dedicate to Chopin became imperative after a meeting with a member of the Polish Embassy in Paris.
Serge Forté had already played in concert an arrangement on Prelude n°4, and even recorded his version (in Thanks for All) of Study n°1 of Scriabine, great "fan" of Chopin. It acted up to that point that winks with his traditional formation; the repertory of Chopin belongs to the “obliged passages ” for any pianist, so much his work is rich, as well in melodies as inharmonics originality and rhythmic.

After the decision, question was to choose short pieces, easy to identify,
extract the harmonic scale, and create original arrangements on the rhythmic plan according to respect the spirit of the Master.
A first serie of some titles gave place to a concert in trio (piano, basse, drums) on May 8th 99 in Institut Polonais de Paris.

Several concerts later, we organized a tour in Poland in May 2000.

This CD has been recorded “live” on January 2nd and 3rd 2003
in Bludenz, Austria , in a very nice Concert Hall named La Remise,
and is released since March 2003.

We wish that this music, inspired by the great improviser who was Frédéric Chopin, precursor and jazzman before the term, will give you the opportunity to rediscover his music.
