On the proposal of pianist Serge Forté, who already recorded several French songs in LA VIE EN BLEU, a trio of Jazz musicians presents very famous songs of the French-speaking repertoire, arranged in an original way for Jazz formation including the piano, double bass, drums and voice.
Arrangements are all from Serge Forté
This project is built around the Forté Trio, and three tunes will be sung, with the participation of singer Alain Chamfort (“Elisa” S.Gainsbourg), and also young singer Raphaële Atlan (“L’hymne à L’amour” and “La Vie en Rose” E.Piaf).
Short history of “La Bohème”, by Serge Forté ·
was already part of my songs ideas when I decided to ask Alain Chamfort. He accepted immediately without knowing my arrangement ! His interpretation is deep and retained as well, faithful to his image… Thank you, Mr Chamfort, it was a great moment for us all! ·
It’s so good to divert this song from its original version… · All the small interludes solos like
were entirely improvised from some simple concepts, like here, the use of the natural resonance of the fabulous Fazioli piano. For
which itched me since a small moment to play Ragtime rhythmically by reversing the two hands, then here it’s done ! ·
gives me the opportunity to introduce a young singer, Raphaële with my best wish that this first recording will be followed by many others… ·
is a song from Alain Chamfort. It moved me so much that I did not hesitate a second to perform it. It was not easy to have him listen to my version in studio but I immediately felt his surprise but approval. ·
wasn’t easy for both Raphaële and I, to find an original but respectful way. Finally the Gospel style of the last sentence "Dieu réunit ceux qui s’aiment" (God gathers the lovers ) gave us the key… ·
ma belle adorée, je t’emmènerai …(my beautiful adorable, I would take you along…) Thanks for all, Mr Nougaro… ·
was one of my favourite songs when I was young! I scrupulously respected the song’ structure, but still with a few change of chords, and especially took a great pleasure to recreate the famous accelerando of Russian music! Including a tribute to one of my Mentors: Lennie Tristano. ·
because I‘m talking about a time that young people under twenty years cannot know
